My bags are packed...

For those who have not heard yet...Baby Lawrance is going to be making his appearance into the world today! Our doctor decided yesterday to deliver him by c-section today at noon. We had another ultrasound and he has not grown enough since the last one so they are worried about a growth restriction. As she said, "If he is not growing, why keep him in there any longer?" They did a couple other tests and he passed those with flying colors. We were not expecting this for another three weeks, so as you can imagine our heads are spinning! (Although I think they have slowed down since yesterday afternoon!) So stay tuned...Scott should be adding another post in the next day or so!

Here is the last profile pic taken yesterday at 37 weeks....

It's Finished!!!

The nursery is finally finished! Scott and I were motivated to get it done after one of the girls I work with unexpectedly delivered almost 6 weeks early last week. (She wasn't due until December 14th!) Check out the pictures at http://picasaweb.google.com/sel2518/Nursery.

Finally! An update!

It's hard to believe, but my due date is less than a month away! While most of it has gone by quickly and with relatively little discomfort, I am about ready to be done with this whole pregnancy thing! I am over the swollen ankles, backaches, and seemingly endless trips to the bathroom (especially at night)! Thankfully, the end is in sight!

Baby shower pictures are finally posted, so check out the photo link on the right. Hopefully, there will be more in the days to come as they are sent to me. New ultrasound pictures are also up! We had a second ultrasound on October 24 and found out that Baby Lawrance is healthy, just a little bit small. We also discovered that he has a full head of hair! Not only that, but it looks like it is sticking straight up. Who know we would have such a stylin' kid?

Hopefully we will have more frequent posts in the days to come, including the finished nursery and another ultrasound. So stay tuned....

32 Weeks

Sorry it has been awhile since the last post, but here is what you have been waiting for......

32 (and a half) weeks! I made Scott retake this picture twice. The first time he took it from a slightly behind angle and the second he took it from down low and I was sure it was the camera angle which made me look so big! So I made him take a third picture looking straight on. I know what you are thinking...I am supposed to be big, I am pregnant! Still, some days it is hard to accept how much my body is changing. I think yesterday (when the pic was taken) I was feeling as if I will never be skinny again!

My Baby Shower last weekend was great! I have some pictures but the computer is not reading the CD, so I will post those soon!

Proof!

Here it is....proof that men do sometimes have to read the directions!

The picture gives you a glimpse of the room, but I will post pics of the finished product once I am done decorating!

10 Weeks Remaining!!!

December is approaching quickly and we've been busy over the last week or two. The last couple of weeks have been spent turning our extra bedroom into our new nursury and the den into our new extra bedroom. Megan's parents came over to help get things started since both rooms needed to be repainted. Once that was done, we had a lot of consolidation to get two rooms into one and then assemble some of the new furnature. Megan will be updating so more on this to come. Here I am after assembling the new baby crib...one of the top three experiences I've had so far.

Megan seems to be doing great, but I'll let her address that in more depth herself. We took a picture of her about a week ago so here is the most current photo.

This isn't a baby...I just ate a watermelon!

When you are pregnant you are frequently asked two questions..."When are you due?" and "Do you know what you are having?" Working in a busy physicians office I get asked these questions at least 15-20 times a day. That does not include other comments such as: "Oh, look! She's going to have a baby!" and "Looks like you have a little baby bump." or "Someone's going to be a mommy!" There are days I just want to wear a sign that says, "Yes, I am pregnant. I am due December 4. I am having a boy."

A variation of the "When are you due?" question that I hear at least 2-3 times a day is "How much longer do you have?" This would not be so bad if it were not for the response I get when I answer "Until December." They look at me with wide eyes and state in a particular tone, "Oh! You have a long way to go!" Translation: "You are going to be HUGE!!!!" Let me tell you...there is nothing a pregnant woman wants to hear more than that! I just want to say..."This isn't a baby, I just ate a watermelon!"

One of the strangest experiences I have had occured today. Scott and I were walking through Walmart when a complete stranger (a woman) walked up to me and said, "You look so pretty!" Now that I wouldn't mind hearing more often!!!!

24 Weeks

It's been awhile since the last picture, but this one was taken at 23 weeks. As you can see, our little guy continues to grow...which, by extension, means I am growing, too. I am starting to grow out of some of my smaller maternity clothes so I may be doing some more shopping before too long. According to my book, he is about 8 1/2 inches long, weighs 1 and 1/4 pounds and now has well developed fingernails and eyebrows

It has been requested that I post that we are registered at Babies R US and Target. We registered a few weeks ago and found baby registering to be much harder than wedding registering! Not only are there a lot of things we are going to need, but there is a lot of stuff out there that we do not need. Scott started out by saying our baby will have the best of "everything" but quickly realized just how much unnecessary stuff there is. (In reference to a baby wipe warmer he said, "I had cold wipes on my butt so my baby will, too!")

While I have the colors and bedding picked out we have not yet started painting the baby's room. Scott has his last class of the summer this weekend (yeah!) and once he is done with all of his post-course work it will be time to start working on the baby's room and rest of the house. Scott's pre-baby honey-do list grows every week!

Birthday Present

Well, my birthday is coming up tomorrow...and Megan yesterday gave me an early birthday present.

Last night as we were laying down to fall asleep, out little baby was kicking up a storm. Something apparently had this little guy all excited. Anyway, I was able for the first time to feel our little guy kick! What a rush. Of course, Megan has been feeling him for the last couple of weeks, but I have not yet been able to feel him move around until last night. Judging by what we both felt last night, we may have a little soccer player on our hands.

20 Weeks -- Halfway!!!!

We are halfway! Hard to believe. It seems like I still have forever to go, although I know it will go by quickly. For those of you who have tried to post comments and have been rejected, Scott got those little bugs worked out (blame it on a first time blogger!).

I thought I would update you with a new pic and answer some questions I know many have been wondering about. Here are my most frequently asked questions:
Q: When am I due?
A: December 4

Q: How have I been feeling?
A: Overall, pretty good...just tired! Luckily, I have had very little morning sickness.

Q: Do we have a name picked out?
A: Well, we have agreed on part of the name. We have decided his last name will be Lawrance with an 'ance'!!! But, no first name yet. One girl at work has nicknamed him "Bubba" until he has a full name.

Q: Have I felt the baby move yet?
A: Yes! However, it is not very frequent yet and I have to be sitting or lying still to feel him.
Q: Do I have any cravings?
A: I hate to admit this, but yes! The baby loves McDonald's cheeseburgers and fries. And as much as I try to deny it, mom kind of likes them, too! Why couldn't it be something like carrots or celery?!?!?!?

Little boy or little girl???

Ok...here's what you all want to know, are we having a boy or are we having a little girl? We've debated about finding out and whether or not we should. In the end we decided that no matter when we found out it would still be a surprise. the nice thing about finding out sooner rather than later is that we can now start to make some plans.

We had our first ultrasound yesterday. What an experience!! It is truely one that I will never forget and cherish forever. It was truely wonderous to see our little baby and this definately made things more "real" to me since my body is not the one going through all the changes.

We arrived for the ultrasound and while Megan was calm and collected, I was more like a duck paddling on the lake (everything seemed fine on the surface, but underneath I was just trying to make it through the day). The ultrasound tech had no problem finding the baby and soon we had a little show. The baby was extremely active and was moving around during the entire ultrasound.

In addition to the traditional photos from the ultrasound, we were able to get a DVD recording of the ultrasound with everything that was done. I've already watched this 2-3 times since we've been home. If I can find out how to do this, I'll try to post this here for everyone to see. Here is one of the pictures from the ultrasound, follow the photos link to see the rest of the photos. This is the profile view of our baby where you can see the head to the left with the outline of the skull, the belly and spine in the middle, and the lower legs to the right of the picture.

Alright, so now to answer the question...boy or girl. Well, as you may have noticed, the background of the blog is blue....we are having a little BOY!

Our Growing Baby

The past 2-3 weeks have seen big changes as Megan is now starting to show and look pregnant. She's now getting comments from strangers about being pregnant. In the spirit of sharing, Megan has been good enough to let me take some photos along the way to see how much the baby is growing.

This first image to the left is one taken at the 12 week mark. To those who know Megan well, you can easily see a difference. This was our first adventure into maternity clothes.

On the right is Megan at 17 weeks. As you can see, our baby is growing quite fast as we have seen a big change in the last week. Strangers are now even talking to Megan about her pregnancy without advance knowledge. I'll try to keep snapping photos (as long as she will let me!) so you can watch as our baby grows.

My First Entry!

Hello family and friends and welcome to our blog! Megan and I have created this for a very special purpose. For those who have not heard yet....Megan is pregnant and we are expecting our first child in December. This blog will help to document our journey through the pregnancy and into parenthood. We invite you all to share in our experiences. So, here goes our first attempt at blogging.
