Party Time!!!!

Today is Ethan's First Birthday! Right about now (6:35pm) one year ago they were just beginning the c-section and Ethan would make his entrance into the world in about 19 minutes!

We had a house full of people today to celebrate with us. Everyone had a great time, including Ethan. He really enjoyed his first cake as well as the presents. He has not had much time to play with them yet because right after everyone left he went down for a nap and slept for a little over two hours! Below are a few pics, but more are posted under the Photos link. Enjoy!

On the Move!

Ethan is on the move! He cruises around in his walker...

Walks along all of the furniture...

And pushes his toys! He will be walking before we know it!

Ethan's First Birthday Gift!

Ethan will be 1-year-old in one week! Last weekend, his Grandma and Grandpa Lawrance stopped by on their way to Flordia and he got to unwrap his first gift. Needless to say, he enjoyed the whole experience. He enjoyed tearing the paper and he loves the gift, too!

Like any typical kid, he loves to play with the box!

Ethan's First Halloween

Yesterday was Ethan's last first holiday! I can't believe he will be 1 year old in 2 weeks! Since it was his first Halloween he had to dress up...we even went trick-or-treating to one house!

11mo height and weight checks

Last night while mom was at work, I decided to unofficially check Ethan's stats for height and weight. Although they're probably not perfect - I got 22 pounds and 29 inches! He is getting so big and really at this point has more than caught up with his peers. You'd never at this point know how little he was at the start.

I've been keeping track of his progress on this website and it's really neat (I think!) to see how both his weight and height have progressed since he was born. The first chart is his weight and the bottom chart is his height.

Ethan's First Bike Ride

Ethan went for his first bike ride yesterday...although he is not sure what to think about it yet. He could not decide what to think about the big, heavy thing we put on his head!

Vacation!

We are back from a great week long trip! We left on Saturday evening and drove through the night to get to Myrtle Beach and stayed there for 5 nights. Ethan loved the beach and the pool. He is definetly a water baby!

While at Myrtle Beach we visited the Ripley's Aquarium. Scott and I called it our scuba trip! My favorite part was their "Ray Bay." They have a large tank of all different types of rays and a few small sharks that is attached to a shallow touch pool where you are allowed to pet any of the rays that come close enough. I said the chant Kristy and I were taught by Carlos in Belize..."Eagle ray, eagle ray, eagle ray," and it worked! I got to pet an eagle ray several times as it swam by. (I would have included the second part of the chant, "Turtle, turtle, turtle," but seeing as that there were no turtles in the tank I did not think it would work very well.)

On our way home we stayed one night in Cherokee, North Carolina and then spent a little bit of time in the Smokey National Park.

More pictures are posted under the photos link with more to come!

Nine and a half months old!

We finally went for Ethan's 9 month appointment this week and he weighed in at a heafty 20 pounds 1 ounce and 27.5 inches long! He now falls in the 25th-50th percentile on his weight. It's hard to believe this is the same baby from 9 months ago. Everyone used to comment on how little he was and now they say, "What a big boy!"
Obviously, we don't miss too many meals!

Big Boy!

I took Ethan for a weight check a couple of weeks ago and he weighed in at 18 pounds 6 ounces and 26 inches long! A few days ago we weighed him at about 19 pounds at home. Our little boy is not so little anymore!!!

So many toys, so little time!

One thing Ethan has had no trouble finding...his voice!

Uncle Ken is Funny!

Ethan thought Uncle Ken was hilarious! He was blowing rasberries on Aunt Kristy's back in the pool for Ethan's entertainment. Ethan is definetly a Lawrance, but what little boy would not crack up over farting noises?!?!

The 4th of July

We spent the July 4th weekend up at Lake Webster where Ethan went for his first swim in the pool. He was not too sure of it at first, but by the end of his first dip he was enjoying it. On the second day, he had a lot of fun! Ethan also did very well with the fireworks...he slept right through them!!!

The rest of our pictures from the weekend are posted on Picasa as well as pictures from June!

Learning to Sit

Ethan is learning to sit and he is getting pretty good! He can sit on his own for several minutes at a time. His favorite place to sit is in the middle of mom and dad's bed. If he gets tired or just wants to for fun, he can flop backwards on all of the soft pillows!

Sleepy Baby!

Ethan LOVES his jumper! When he is in it, he just can't keep from bouncing...even if he is falling asleep!!! (By the way, that is the movie Oceans Thirteen you hear in the background!)

Baseball!

For those who did not hear, Scott had the honor of throwing the first pitch at the Indianapolis Indians game last night. His work is a sponsor of the Indians so he got to throw out the first pitch and was able to get tickets for several family members. Unfortunetly, we did not see it! The police officers doing traffic control made us stand on the corner for 5 minutes waiting to cross the street. As I was walking into Victory Field I heard his name announced and I was able to see him walking off the field. Thankfully, there was a photographer present so we should be able to get a picture.

This was also Ethan and Logan's (Ethan's cousin) first baseball game. Logan was very excited because he plays baseball. They both had a good time and behaved very well!

6 Month Update

Ethan is now 6 1/2 months old! We had his 6 month check-up on Wednesday. He weighed in at 16 pounds 7 ounces! That is 2 1/2 pounds up from two months ago! He is also 24 3/4 inches long. He is growing like a weed! Ethan has tried all of the baby food veggies and a few fruits now and we have not found anything he does not like. Ethan is a Lawrance and a Pearl....he LOVES to eat!!!!!

New pictures are posted under the photos link!!!!

Ethan loves the camera. Anytime it is pointed his direction he turns all of his attention to it. He also loves to watch his movies played back on the computer!

Food!

Ethan has started to enjoy eating his cereal. If only he knew that eating cereal and veggies will get him to the good stuff...fruit!

The Cats...

The cats have become very comfortable around Ethan and have no problem getting upclose and personal with him. Ethan also really enjoys watching them and his eyes follow them everywhere. Boy, are they going to get a rude awakening very soon when his little hand grabs a tail!

Chloe doesn't care how close her sunny spot is to Ethan.

Raja loves to sit on the edge of the tub and watch Ethan get his bath.

Finding my voice!

Ethan is discovering that he has a voice! Play the video to listen in....

5 months old!

Believe it or not, Ethan turned 5 months old on Tuesday! How time flies! I have been at home with him for almost two weeks, but it feels like two days. Ethan is growing like a weed and changing every day. He is trying really hard to roll over, but he just can't quite get there yet. He is talking more and more and is finally eating his rice cereal well. He is also over his ear infection and back to his normal, happy self. Below are some new pictures from this week along with captions...

What's that flashy thing in my face?
I bring new meaning to the term 'finger food'!
I will twist any way I can to watch TV!

I like to help dad work!

Officially Unemployed!

It's official! I am unemployed! For those who have not heard, I decided to quit my job and stay home with Ethan. My last day was Friday, April 4th. After a lot of debate, Scott and I decided that the best place for me is at home. However, I am glad that I went back to work for awhile. (I worked for a total of 8 weeks.) Working + baby + daily life tasks have just added up to be too much. I think I will be a much happier person and be able to enjoy my baby a lot more if I stay home. Lots of people have asked how I will fill my time, but I assure you, I will not be bored!
